Joaquín Lago is a Bankruptcy Attorney with over six years of experience in the field, having represented both individual debtors and mortgage creditors before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Puerto Rico. While representing debtors, Joaquín carried out adversary proceedings to strip off improperly secured or unsecured liens over Debtors’ residential properties or motor vehicles, as well as to redeem debtors’ financial fresh start in case any creditor violated the Bankruptcy Court’s automatic stay or discharge orders. Joaquín is admitted to the Puerto Rico Bar, as well as the Federal Bar.
Joaquín also has experience in mortgage foreclosure cases before the Puerto Rico Trial Court, as well as the U.S. Federal District Court, for the District of Puerto Rico. Through the foreclosure process, Joaquín worked with Defendants (individuals) and Plaintiffs (mortgage banks) during the mediation processes which often resulted in a Stipulation Agreement to the benefit of both parties. Joaquín also carries out Title Insurance Claims in cases where a mortgage lien has not been properly established. Joaquín was born and raised in Puerto Rico, where he currently lives and works. On his time off, Joaquín enjoys reading and riding bikes with his daughter.
